An tSraith Shinsearach i nGaelcholáiste na Mara:
Tá réimse leathan d’ábhair Ardteiste, tacaíocht, agus gníomhaíochtaí ar fáil do dhaltaí Bl5 agus Bl6 i nGaelcholáiste na Mara.
Tá liosta de na hábhair Ardteiste ar fad atá ar fáil sa Ghaelcholáiste thíos. Déanann gach dalta staidéar ar an nGaeilge, Béarla, Mata agus Fraincis. Roghnaíonn na daltaí trí ábhair eile ó rogha leathan d’ábhair acadúla, practiciúla, ealaíonta agus eolaíochta. Tá gach múinteoir paiseanta faoina ábhar féin agus baintear úsáid as réimse leathan de mhodhanna múinte.
Tugtar tacaíocht go leor do Bl5 agus Bl6 agus an tSraith Shinsearach ar bun acu. Glacann gach dalta páirt sa chlár OSPS don Srath Shinsearach. Is é aidhm OSPS ná sláinte fhisiciúil, mheabhrach, mhothúchánach agus folláine a chur chun cinn.
Cabhraíonn ár dTreoirchomhairleoir le daltaí taighde a dhéanamh ar ghairmeacha don todhchaí agus le roghnú a dhéanamh ar na cúrsaí ollscoile is oiriúnaí dóibh. Tugtar treoir do dhaltaí an iarratas CAO a líonadh. Cabhraítear le daltaí iarratas a dhéanamh ar ollscoileanna lasmuigh den stát, printíseachtaí agus cúrsaí eile freisin.
Spreagtar daltaí bl5 agus bl6 chun páirt a ghlacadh in imeachtaí comhchuraclaim agus seach-churaclaim.
Is í an Ghaeilge ceann de na buntáistí is mó a bhaineann le freastal a dhéanamh ar Ghaelcholáiste na Mara. Tá gach dalta líofa sa Ghaeilge faoin am a fhágann said an Ghaelcholáiste. Faigheann daltaí marcanna breise nuair a dhéanann siad an Ardteist trí Ghaeilge rud a ardaíonn pointí CAO dóibh. Tuilleann daltaí Ghaelcholáiste na Mara marcanna arda sa scrúdú Gaeilge. Is buntáiste mór é an líofacht sa Ghaeilge má tá tú ag cur isteach ar phostanna sa seirbhís poiblí agus tugann sé deiseanna fostaíochta in institiúidí an AE freisin.
Táimid bródúil as Clár na Sraithe Sinsearaí Ghaelcholáiste na Mara. Bhí an chéad Ardteist againn sa bhliain 2013 agus d’éirigh go han-mhaith leis na daltaí sin agus na daltaí a tháinig ina dhiaidh sa scrúduithe Ardteistiméiméachta.

Senior Cycle in Gaelcholáiste na Mara
A wide range of Leaving Certificate subjects, supports, and extra-curricular activities are available to 5th and 6th year students in Gaelcholáiste na Mara.
You can find a list of all the Leaving Cert subjects available above. All students study Irish, English, Maths and French. Students choose their three remaining subjects from a wide range of options which include academic, practical, artistic and science subjects. All teachers in Gaelcholáiste na Mara are passionate about their subjects and use a wide variety of teaching methods.
Many supports are available to 5th and 6th year students as they progress through the Leaving Cert program. All students participate in Senior Cycle SPHE which aims to promote physical, mental and emotional health and well-being and enables the students to develop skills for self-fulfilment and living in communities.
Our Guidance Councillor helps the students to research their chosen future careers and select the best third level courses to suit their needs. The students are guided through the CAO process. Guidance and support is also given to students who wish to apply to universities in other countries, apprenticeships or other courses.
5th and 6th year students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. These activities develop essential skills that will benefit the students in the future. Both the girls and boys senior football and soccer teams have been very successful in recent years. Other activities include debate club, basketball, green schools and Young Scientist Competition.
One of the major benefits of studying in Gaelcholáiste na Mara is the Irish Language. All students are fluent in Irish by the time they leave the Gaelcholáiste. Students receive extra marks for completing the Leaving Cert in Irish which helps increase CAO points. Gaelcholáiste na Mara students routinely receive very high grades in the Irish exam. Being fluent in the Irish language is of great benefit when applying for public service jobs and it provides employment opportunities in EU institutions.
We in Gaelcholáiste na Mara are proud of our Senior Cycle Program. In 2013 we celebrated our first Leaving Cert group graduate. These students and students since have had great success in the Leaving Cert.
