A chara,
Tá sonraí anseo mar gheall ar an gcineál measúnú atá eagraithe le haghaidh Bliain 3 ag deireadh na bliana seo.
As you are aware the Junior Cycle examinations will not be taking place in their traditional format this school year due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
Guidelines have been issued to schools in recent weeks regarding the type of in-school assessments that are advised and permitted for this years 3rd years. School management in conjunction with the teaching staff have agreed an assessment plan which we feel will adequately challenge and motivate the students for the duration of their Junior Cycle.
Assessment details.
Students will complete assessments in each subject at the end of this school year. The main assessments will take place in the week of May 17th-21st. The Department of Education have directed all Third-year assessments to be completed by the 21st of May. The assessments set by teachers will be based on the work completed in third year. Health and safety advice have instructed that examinations should not last any longer than the maximum duration of the normal class period. Our double classes in GCM last an hour and twenty minutes and therefore each assessment will be set for an hour and twenty minutes. Teachers in the various departments have flexibility to set additional class tests in the lead up to those final assessments and add the percentages together accordingly. Students will be informed of any subject specific plans in the coming weeks.
The final grade recorded on the report will be calculated from this end of year third year assessment and we are also weighting the results the students received in Bliain 1 and Bliain 2 and calculating the final grade accordingly.
School report.
A report will be completed by the teachers, year head and school management when all assessments have been corrected. This report will have:
- The final grade awarded for Junior Cycle subjects
- Results of any CBA’s completed
-A comment from the teacher
-An account of any other learning experiences your son/daughter has had during their JC years, extra-curricular involvement and so on.
This report will be printed and posted out to households in June.
If anyone has any questions relating to any of the information discussed in this post please contact the school office- gcm@kwetb.ie/ 040291764
