A chara,
Tá scoth na hoibre déanta ag scoláirí agus foireann GCM le cúpla seachtain anuas ar pháirceanna imeartha agus i hallaí díospóireachta na tíre agus is fiú go mór an obair dhian agus luachmhar seo a chéiliúradh.
We are only coming to terms with our success in Comórtas Díospóireacht Uí Chadhain(All-Ireland Debating as Gaeilge) and now we are facing into the prospect of another ‘Craobh na hÉireann’ this time on the sports field.
It has been an extremely successful few weeks in GCM with various extra-curricular successes to celebrate. Great praise is due to all the students involved and also to the teachers who have been working with them.
Yesterday our Leinster Champions- Under 19 boys won their All Ireland soccer semi final and will now play an All-Ireland final Versus St Josephs, Foxford of Mayo. This final will take place on Friday February 10th in a location somewhere in the midlands.
‘An rud is annamh is iontach’ -reaching an All-Ireland is a rare achievement and we are looking to mark this occasion by offering all our students the opportunity to attend the final and to support their fellow students – 'Ar Scáth a chéile a mhairimid’.
For Bliain a 3 and Bliain a 6 it will mean some changes to their mock examination timetable, these changes have already been communicated.
For Bliain a 1/2/5 Friday the 10th will not be a normal school day as we expect there will be great interest in travelling to the game. The FAI will charge €2 into the final and we will be arranging buses to carry all our students and staff. In order to pay that entrance fee and to cover a portion of the costs of the buses we are asking students to pay €10 in total to attend the final. Please note we will only take a maximum of €20 from each family. We need to know definite numbers ASAP to confirm the amount of buses needed etc. Any student who does not wish to attend the game has the option of coming to school where some teachers will be supervising study for the day. If students have other appointments or commitments that day we also need to know this so that we can ensure definite numbers.
We will be taking lists and collecting the €10 from this Thursday 2nd of February and we ask that the money is paid by next Tuesday the 7th please. We are collecting the €10 in cash.
It is expected that the final will take place at around lunchtime but when definite time arrangements for this fixture are confirmed they will be communicated in due course. The journey will be two hours plus so it will be approximately 17.00 by the time we arrive back in Co. Wicklow that evening. Students from Wicklow town will be dropped back there on our way home.
Any queries regarding this plan can be resolved by emailing gcm@kwetb.ie or contacting Oifig na Scoile- 040291764
