Ar an Déardaoin an 3ú Márta chuaigh an rang Idirbhliana chuig DCU chun páirt a ghlacadh san Emmanuel, ceolchoirm ollmhór reiligúnach ina mbíonn na míllte daltaí ag canadh amhráin sa Helix. Chuaigh siad suas go luath ar maidin chuig eaglais gar go leor den Helix chun cleachtadh a dhéanamh agus chun páirt a ghlacadh i gcluichí spraoiúla. Bhí an-craic acu ag déanamh congó agus ag cleachtadh na hamhráin. Shiúil siad chuig DCU ansin chun lón a ithe. Tar éis lóin, chuaigh gach éinne isteach sa Helix chun a shuíocháin a thógáil. Chuaigh cleachtadh ar aghaidh ansin ar feadh cúpla uair agus bhí canadh iontach le cloisteáil ó gach uile scoil. Nuair a tháinig sé a chlog bhí ocras an domhan ar fhórmhór na ndaltaí agus bhí dinnéar acu i DCU. Dinnéar blasta a bhí ann agus thug sé an-chuid fuinneamh ar ais do na ndaltaí. Thosaigh an ceolchoirm ansin ag leath uair tar éis a seacht. Tháinig clainn agus cairde chun tacaíocht a thaispeáint. Oíche den scoth a bhí ann – bhí gach éinne ag seasamh suas agus ag canadh ós ard ar feadh dhá uair, ag damhsa agus ag gáire. Dúirt an rang gurb é ceann de na turasanna Idirbhliana is fearr go dtí seo. Ba bhreá leo dul ar ais an bhliain seo chugainn.
On Thursday the 3rd of March, the Transition Year class travelled to DCU to take part in Emmanuel, a huge religious concert where hundreds of students sing songs in the Helix. They went up early in the morning to a church close enough to the Helix to practice and to participate in some fun activities. They had great craic doing the congo and rehearsing the songs. They then walked to DCU to have lunch. After that, everyone went into the Helix to take their seats. Practice then went on for a few hours and great singing could be heard from every school. When six o’clock arrived, the majority of the students were starving and they had dinner in DCU. The dinner was tasty and it definitely revived the students’ energy. The concert began at half past seven. Friends and family came to support. It was a brilliant night – everyone was standing up and singing out loud for two hours, dancing and having a laugh. The whole class agreed that it was one of the best tours of Transition Year so far. They would love to go back again next year.
